From our experience most home break-ins are from individuals that live very close to the home. This would be someone that knows your schedule or actually sees the car leave the home or drive down a street on the way out of the area. No matter where you live in the nation, we find that the type and nature of break-ins are similar. (We have spoken to literally tens of thousands of people across the USA and have heard thousands of break-in stories.)
The second most common is an acquaintance of some type that you were unfortunate enough to make. This might be a helper of a service technician that you recently had in your home or a friend of a friend etc… Every Security Company that we partner with has a rigorous background check policy in place with all technicians. As well, almost every State in the Country requires not only Security Companies to be licensed but also every person that might enter a home or business to install a security system.
Other common home break-in times are when you are moving into a new home, when there is a lot of construction in the area or when you are gone for longer periods of time. And, in general, anytime there are more people in and around your home then you are much more likely to have a burglary.
The best defense against break-ins in our opinion is to have a reputable home security company install a monitored alarm system into the residence and use it regularly. W.H.S. uses the largest and best home security companies in the area.
One more thing, with all burglaries considered, the most common time frame is during normal hours when someone has just left the home for a short time (an hour or two). So, be sure to set your security system anytime the home is left unattended.
As one of the leading home security companies, we look forward to being of service to you and your family.
