From our experience most home break-ins are from individuals that live very close to the home. This would be someone that knows your schedule or actually sees the car leave the home or drive down a street on the way out of the area. The second most common is an acquaintance of some type that you were unfortunate enough to make. The best defense against break-ins in our opinion is to have a reputable home security company install a monitored alarm system into the residence and use it regularly.
